A look into the divine cuisine of Morimoto Waikiki.

Chef Masaharu Morimoto is widely known as the host of one of the first competition cooking shows, Iron Chef.

With family in town this week we had the treat of dining at Morimoto Waikiki, located in the Waikiki Edition Hotel, a highly stylized hotel designed by the conceptual entrepreneur Ian Schrager.

My brother-in law got the Chef’s tasting menu which included Toro and Hamachi Tartare the first (out of nine) courses.

Wagyu carpaccio.

My sister-in-law enjoying clam miso soup.

Seasonal vegetables in garlic anchovy and olive oil dipping sauce.

A palate cleanser of Konbu cha sea kelp tea.

Ginger pork.

Rack of lamb.

Surf & turf.

Don, sipping some espresso before dessert.

Chocolate caramel torte.

Chocolate mille feuille.

Morimoto Waikiki was by far my favorite dining experience on Oahu thus far. The restaurant atmosphere was casual, but modern with a beautiful view of the Waikiki regatta. The food was amazing, as I expected. Most of the appetizers & pre-courses to the tasting menu included some form of molecular gastronomy. I was so impressed with the flavor of the dishes that included molecular gastronomy. It was a unique experience & I look forward to visiting Moromoto’s & the Waikiki Edition again.
