Freshen up.

Confession: I got up this morning, walked down to Waikiki, and had the breakfast of champions…a GIANT bowl of Yogurtland at oh say, 9:30ish a.m. because they for some reason thankfully opened early today.

I continued my morning with a few hours reading on the beach. The beach is really the perfect place to be an introvert, stuck in my books, while still surrounded by people who make me think I’m being social.

I did step out of my comfort zone a bit last evening and went to ARTafterDARK solo. I eventually met up with some friends which was of course the highlight of the evening, but I also was really surprised that I felt ok experiencing the social scene independently. And that’s going to be a really important aspect of my travels. I need to focus on my independent confidence and re-visit the assured, inquisitive person in me that’s taken a break for a while, I need to assert myself again.

And yes, going out on my own is a small step, but it’s a start.

On a completely different note, I need a healthy re-boot. Yogurtland for breakfast is nice in every once in a while, but I’ve fallen hard off of the healthy wagon and need to get back on. I’d love to train for a race. I don’t really think it’s going to fit into my travels so I’m going to make a commitment to myself to focus on eating clean and staying as active as possible for the month leading up to my trip. And this all starts tomorrow of course because well, even though Yogurtland is better than Haagen Dazs, it’s still pretty lacking in wholesomeness  😉

So cheers to freshening up the routine and getting back into a healthy mindset.

  1. Love it. And love your spirit. You go, girl. You can do this. I like your open heart and willingness to step out into the unknown. That takes a bit of faith. I believe delightful surprises await. Thank you for letting us join your journey.

  2. I stumbled upon your blog, and I believe it was on purpose. I am much older than you, but will also be saying good bye to my husband (mutual) so that I can travel and work. Long story, but it is right and good. Funny thing is, I will be starting my journey by returning home to Oahu in July. I will be apartment sitting for two weeks in Makiki, but hope to find a place in Waikiki. My very good friends own the “court yard” in China Town, one of the “galleries” that feature artists on First Fridays. Anyway, I love your posts, they give me courage….thank you!
    Aloha, Connie

    • Connie, best of luck to you in your travels. I don’t think I’ve been to the court yard, but I’ve recently discovered First Fridays and it’s such a fun atmosphere. Chinatown is really a great small business/artist community. I really appreciate your kind thoughts on my blog and I look forward to hearing more about your journey on your blog!
